Outlook Setting

Send and Receive email from your Microsoft Outlook Program
 
Before you can download your email to your PC, you would need to configure it using Outlook. Firstly ensure that you have an up-to-date version of the software. You would need to have connection to the internet from your PC. Do ensure that your network equipment ( eg routers, switches and firewall ) permit connections to the mail server.
 
Here’s a summary of how your email settings should look like.
 
You access this menu by clicking :
Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Properties
->General (Outlook 2002 )
 
Tools -> Email Accounts -> View/Change -> Change->More Settings (Outlook 2003 )
 
Tools-> Account Settings->Change-> More settings (Outlook 2007)
 
 
Here’s a summary of how your server settings should look like.
 
You access this menu by clicking :
Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Properties
->Servers
 
 
 
If you have not set up an mail account before, here’re the steps. Click this sequence :
Tools -> Accounts -> Mail -> Add-> Mail
(Outlook 2002 )
 
Tools -> Email Accounts -> Add/New -> Pop3 (Outlook 2003 )
 
Tools-> Account Settings->New -> Pop3
(Outlook 2007)
 
Type in the Name that you would want your email to display ( as sender )
 
Logon Information

User Name : myname@domain.sg
Password : *******

Server Information

Incoming server : pop.domain.sg
Outgoing server : mail.domain.sg

Click on [ Test Account Settings ] to check that you have a successful connection.
 

Return to the More Settings ( or Properties ) menu and select the Tab : Outgoing Server
 
Check the Box labelled : My outgoing server (SMTP ) requires authentication
 
Followed by clicking on the Radio button labelled : Log on to incoming server before sending mail.


Click OK to save the setting.
 

Next, select the Tab : Advanced 
 
 Ensure that the following is entry is correct :

Incoming server ( POP3) : 110
Outgoing server ( SMTP ) : 25

Server Timeouts : Slide it to a value between 2minutes to 3 minutes.

Delivery

( When email is downloaded from the server, it is automatically deleted unless you specify otherwise. You may choose to leave a copy for a short period, in order for you to read them using webmail ).

Check the box labelled Leave a copy of messages on the server, and then check : Remove from server after [ x ] days. We recommend that x should not exceed 3 days.
